‘Style your Smart’ design competition proves a resounding success
March 10th, 2010The design contest "Style your Smart" proved a worldwide success for the iconic car manufacturer as over 50,000 entries were submitted by fans from over 100 countries.
Tamir Shefer from Israel was declared the winner for his quirky smart fortwo design and will receive $1,500 to honour his creativity.
The competition ran for six weeks with smart fans commenting on designs and offering their insight into which vehicles they thought deserved a thumbs up.
Five judges then picked out the four best designs based on these community ratings before eventually combining their own design experience to select the winner.
The judges stated: "The winner of the contest meets the philosophy of the brand perfectly and encourages the observer to open his mind.
"It combines the joy of life, humanity and the spirit of the city in a modern, fresh and graphically convincing way. It is a refreshing design which represents all that ’smart’ stands for."
Marc Langenbrinck, Managing Director of the smart brand and Head of Sales & Marketing at smart, added that the response rate far exceeded expectations, which shows the "enthusiasm the smart brand generates".
