State-of-the-art features for Mercedes-Benz C-Class
May 9th, 2007Owners of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, launched in Stuttgart earlier in the year, can look forward to state-of-the-art developments in every imaginable area.
The Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CES), for instance, will constantly adjust to road conditions and driver actions in order to improve ride comfort and offer enhanced stability.
Designed by Tenneco, the technology allows the Mercedes-Benz C-Class to adapt to braking, accelerating, steering and vehicle load. This offers new levels of safety, comfort and agility.
“We are very pleased to supply the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class with our electronic suspension technology,” said Gregg Sherrill, chairman and chief executive of Tenneco.
“Our commitment to customer collaboration – from development through systems integration, ride tuning, program management and launch – helps ensure that each vehicle equipped with our advanced suspension technology has unique ride and handling characteristics,” he added.
Nuance Communications, meanwhile, has provided the C-Class with its latest speech solution, which allows drivers to remain safe when using the car’s audio, navigation and communication systems.
Command APS allows drivers of the C-Class to use their voice to select contacts from their phone address book. It also allows users to select music or input addresses to the navigation system.
Craig Peddie from Nuance commented: “As traffic volumes continue to increase, and car infotainment and communication systems become more sophisticated, speech technology provides the safest – and most convenient – interface to a car’s audio, navigation and communication systems.
“The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is one of the most comprehensive installations of voice features we have seen to date. The new model features a navigation device that allows drivers to enter their destination verbally – one of the most important features to increase safety and improve overall experience with a navigation system.”
DaimlerChrysler introduced the latest generation of the C-Class in January at the Geneva Auto Show and while most European countries began selling the luxury car on March 31st it goes on sale in the UK on June 14th with launch events at local retailer showrooms.
