Stunning start for Mercedes-Benz
The Mercedes-Benz brand has enjoyed a glittering start to the year, with 365,000 vehicles sold worldwide between January and April.
Car dealers sold 365,000 vehicles in the four-month period, up by two per cent from last year’s total of 357,000. Some 90,600 vehicles were bought in April alone, thanks in no small part to the popularity of the E-Class.
In the last four-month period, 79,100 drivers chose the elegant E-Class, which amounts to an increase of almost 14 per cent on the same period last year.
The C-Class segment has also been buoyant, with 28,000 vehicles sold in April alone.
Drivers also remain enamoured with the C-Class Sports Coupe, which last month passed the remarkable threshold of 300,000 sales since its launch in March 2001.
The M-Class was a similarly strong performer in April, with sales rising by 16.4 per cent to 13,800. In the year-to-date, Mercedes-Benz has shipped 55,400 M-Class models, representing an increase of 21 per cent on the same period in 2006.
The new figures come on the back of the most successful year in the history of Mercedes-Benz, when worldwide deliveries increased by seven per cent to 1,148,500.
