Frankfurt Motorshow, Mercedes-Benz – Road to the Future

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its pioneering E 350 CGI model at this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

To parallel the E 300 Bluetec alternative, the new model features a direct-injection engine with a spray-guided combustion process.

Bluetec technology has been developed by the firm in a bid to address the issue of climate change, also highlighting Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to innovating for the future.

The firm has been using the technology since 2005 and has already implemented the systems in commercial vehicles, delivering more than 60,000 buses and trucks fitted with emissions-reducing system.

Because vehicle emissions are directly related to how much fuel a car uses, the technology has been created to ensure cleaner output from diesel models.

The E 350 CGI engine is the first six-valve petrol model to use the pioneering combustion system in addition to piezo injectors, which are generally used in diesel models to limit how much fuel is consumed.

While the E 300 model has enhanced performance, the E 350 CGI has been developed in line with eco-awareness to offer better fuel consumption results.

The model can accelerate to 62 mph in just 6.8 seconds, while the top speed has been set at 155 mph.
