Goodwood theme honour racing heroes
The Earl of March has confirmed the theme of the 2008 Goodwood Festival of Speed: ‘Hawthorn to Hamilton - Britain’s Love Affair with World Motor Sport’.
Motor racing has always played a key role in British sport and on the back of Lewis Hamilton’s phenomenal rookie season in Formula One the festival will honour the iconic achievements of British figures.
Heroes from the past and modern-day figures are expected to attend the 1.6 mile hillclimb in a tribute to global motor sport.
Competition cars and motorcycles from across the world will also be at the show, many of which have been influenced by British engineering.
Also available at the festival will be stylish vehicles paraded in the concours d’elegance as well as the future of personal transportation in the technology section.
Founder of the event, Lord March, said: "It will be just fantastic to have so many great cars and drivers here at Goodwood to celebrate our theme for 2008. I look forward with much anticipation to seeing some of the great British drivers and UK-inspired machines in action."
