Hamilton beats LearJet
Not content with the intense competition on a Formula One track, Lewis Hamilton has beaten a LearJet for pace.
Racing the executive plane at an airfield in Farnborough, Hamilton proved himself quicker by driving his Formula One vehicle.
The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver went head-to-head with the plane on the runway, driving just 200 feet below the speedy aircraft.
Speaking to the BBC, he revealed he was a little bit nervous.
"Normally when I’m on the runway the planes are landing," he explained.
"But I was sitting in my car, they told me to go and I booted it to 174 mph."
The Formula one driver said he reached full pace and kept the car at its maximum speed to race away from the plane.
The competition earmarked the 45th anniversary of the first LearJet flight.
"I couldn’t see where the plane was but I heard, it was very, very good," said Hamilton.
