Hamilton takes inspiration from ‘hunger’ of Nadal
As Lewis Hamilton prepares for the German Grand Prix he has drawn inspiration from one of the summer’s sporting success stories, Rafael Nadal.
Hamilton could move away from the rest of the leaders in the driver’s championship this weekend if he secures a second win in a row and he is looking to Nadal for inspiration.
He described how he was spellbound by Nadal’s epic Wimbledon final with Roger Federer after he had completed victory at Silverstone.
"The game went on for so long, and I only caught the last half an hour, and that was long enough for me," he explained.
He said that he had expected Federer to win the match but was impressed with how "hungry" the Spaniard was.
"Nadal had something new. He had even more hunger, and it is impossible to match that once you have won it a lot of times," Hamilton explained.
But the 23-year-old revealed that he has had the same hunger for success since he was a small child.
"I’m even more hungry to win at Monaco and Silverstone again next year…that’s a positive thing for me," he said.
Hamilton starts the German Grand Prix level on 48 points with two other drivers, but a win would take him clear of his rivals without question.
