Still plenty to work towards for Hamilton in 2009
July 1st, 2009Lewis Hamilton believes that all is not lost in the current Formula One season as the remaining races need to be used to ensure that he has a car to challenge for the World Championship again next season.
Hamilton has struggled for much of the present campaign with a best finish of fourth, while the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team has scored only 13 points in the eight races that have taken place so far this season.
However, although he is out of the title picture, Hamilton has revealed that his team still have plenty to work towards.
He commented when talking to Autosport: "When I’m talking about next year, we have a tough job on our hands and we have a lot of pressure on our hands.
"We have to work as a team to make sure we have the best car and when we get there next year we want to be winning every race, so that’s what we’re all working for and that’s what we are all hopeful for."
Hamilton was awarded an MBE by the Queen in the 2009 New Years Honours List and remarked that the experience was one of the most "overwhelming" of his life.
