Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG - a zero-emission sports car
Motorists looking for a sports car that is low on emissions have been given the perfect solution by Mercedes-Benz.
The manufacturer has created the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG electric drive, which runs off four electric motors and generates zero emissions.
Meanwhile, a liquid-cooled high-voltage lithium-ion battery also features and is charged through braking while the vehicle is being driven.
Motorists can accelerate to 62 miles per hour from still in about 4.0 seconds, which puts it in the same bracket as the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with a 6.3-litre V8 engine.
Volker Mornhinweg, Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, said: "With the SLS AMG with electric drive, we wanted to redefine the super sports car.
"For us, it is not just about responsibility. We attach just as much importance to excitement and classic AMG performance."
The handling of the vehicle is also boosted by a number of design features, such as four motors and two transmissions being positioned low in the vehicle near the wheels.
This helps to give the vehicle a low centre of gravity and an equal weight distribution.
