Night View Assist Plus technology offers motorists “incredible” images
December 9th, 2009An "incredible" picture quality is one of the biggest highlights of the Mercedes-Benz Night Vision safety aid, it has been stated.
The Night View Assist Plus technology features on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class and consists of a camera placed behind the windscreen collecting images through beams shined at the road.
These pictures are then displayed to a driver through an in-car sat-nav screen, giving them the chance to get a greater view of the road ahead.
Taking a closer look at this innovation, Auto Express has noted some of its starring features.
Alongside the quality of the images created, the magazine praised the support it gives motorists if an oncoming vehicle does not turn off its full beam lights.
This is due to the infrared image not picking up the brightness of the light, allowing a motorist looking at the screen to get a far clearer view of the situation ahead.
Meanwhile, the system has a range of 150 metres, which means motorists can see three times further than when turning on their conventional dipped headlights and it can also distinguish between still and moving objects.
The Night Vision Assist Plus technology is just one of a range of safety features added to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon, with others including flashing adaptive brake lights and an advanced bodyshell design.
