Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet the first to use AIRCAP
December 17th, 2009Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its latest innovation through the new E-Class Cabriolet, aimed at keeping passengers warmer when they have their roofs down.
The fourth model to become a part of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class range, the cabriolet incorporates the world’s first automatic draught-stop.
Entitled AIRCAP, the product consists of a wind deflector in the windscreen frame and a draught-stop between the rear seats, which can be initiated at the touch of a button.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the system has been tested at speeds of 100 miles per hour and aims to keep the wind level above the heads of passengers.
Meanwhile, it also reduces the noise levels within the vehicle to make it easier for passengers to communicate with each other.
Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet features an AIRSCARF system, which "functions like an invisible scarf", according to the manufacturer.
The system is integrated into the backrests of the front seats to provide warm air, while motorists of all heights can benefit through a pivoting outlet nozzle.
Motorists can get their hands on the E-Class Cabriolet from next month, when the two-door model goes on sale.
