New-generation smart fortwo expected to boost sales later in 2010
February 11th, 2010The market launch of the latest addition to the smart fortwo family is expected to ensure sales increase throughout the duration of 2010.
Some 5,600 smart vehicles were delivered to customers worldwide during January, which contributed to Mercedes-Benz Cars witnessing 16.6 per cent better sales than in the same month in 2009.
In total, 72,600 cars were sold across the smart, Mercedes-Benz, AMG any Maybach ranges last month, which was a solid number more than the 62,200 a year ago.
According to smart, one of the chief benefits of the iconic two-seater vehicle is the ability for a motorist to "nip into town, find a parking space with ease and enjoy a stress-free drive home when they are done".
Alongside its urban mobility benefits, vehicles in the smart fortwo range also combine high levels of comfort with on-the-road agility and a host of safety features.
The most common engine of choice is the three-cylinder in-line unit, which is particularly light due to an all-aluminium design.
Meanwhile, a top speed of 90 miles per hour can still be reached, despite the engine having a capacity of less than one litre.
