Almost three years after its premiere in the summer of 2008, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class has undergone a revamp. The design and engineering of the car has been overhauled, with environmental compatibility, economic efficiency and comfort the three main areas focussed on. Specific improvements include the ability of the four-cylinder engines to burn seven per cent less fuel than before while exhaust emissions have also been reduced. A new ECO start/stop function for the B 150 and B 170 models has also been developed which switches off the engine in certain situations such as when the car is stopped at a set of traffic lights to ensure that fuel is conserved. In terms of looks, the B-Class has been given greater poise through the integration of a new radiator grille, and is also said to be more imposing following the addition of a new bumper. With the car being so aesthetically pleasing it’s a good job an active parking assist is available to drivers to ensure they can always find a parking space and manoeuvre into it. Drivers will also be reassured to know that they will be safe inside the Sports Tourer - it was awarded the highest rating of five starts in the European NCAP test programme.

Mercedes-Benz is offering smart fortwo drivers the ultimate companion to driving through the city in the form of the "portable smart navigation system II".
Fitting perfectly into the interior of the smart fortwo, the navigation system features clear voice output and a high-resolution TFT monitor.
A special mount allows it to be attached directly to the instrument panel while the touchscreen system allows easy operation.
As an instruction is about to be called, the system switches from the radio to the satellite navigation, allowing the driver to hear instructions clearly and is powered by its connection to the car’s own supply.
The system also has a "traffic-jam avoidance function" which works by receiving the Traffic Message Channel signals through the radio and offers drivers the most efficient route.
By pressing "home function" the navigation system is able to calculate the quickest possible route home allowing drivers clear directions with minimal fuss.

Alex Jenner-Fust, editor of evecars.com, the website that conducted the poll, said: "The vintage Mercedes SL Roadster is undeniably a beautiful car, which oozes style and class. Buying one isn’t cheap, but proves the owner appreciates the finer things in life," said
"The men we polled love the idea of a woman at the wheel of a high performance car, but only if she knows how to handle it," she added.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate has been given four stars for performance, ride and handling, and reliability in a recent review from What Car? magazine.
It is also suggested that, with a diesel engine, the family vehicle provides "impressive fuel economy", which could make it ideal for the long drive.
Four stars were also issued for four other parts of the model. These were given for the area behind the wheel, space and practicality, refinement, as well as buying and owning.
Commenting on the vehicle’s space, the review states: "Practical touches include a couple of hooks for bags, four anchor points for lashing down loads and a collapsible shopping crate.
"There’s plenty of room for four adults, too."
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was recently shortlisted for the Booker Prize Car of the Year 2008 award.
According to Motor Trader contributing editor Ray Hutton, who is the jury president for the awards, the car is one on a list that includes a selection of "smart small cars and accomplished larger saloons".

The Mercedes GL-Class, which has a Trailer Stability Assist to help when carrying trailers, has finished second in Planet 4×4 magazine’s list of the most practical 4×4s.
In total, 38 vehicles were put through a series of assessments before judgments were made. Planet 4×4 suggests that it was the most in-depth practical test Britain has seen.
Features analysed by the Planet 4×4 team awarded marks for a number of things, including rear legroom, flat-folding seats and dual gloveboxes, as well as curry hooks and 12-volt sockets.
Commenting on the results, Planet 4×4 Editor Alan Kidd said that the test was "one of the most relevant to what buyers want their vehicles for".
He added that "practicality matters in this market - arguably more than anything else" and commented on the "superbly packaged 4×4s" that are currently on the market.
With seats for seven people, the Mercedes GL-Class is an off-roader that comes with either a V6 or V8 engine.
