DTM at Brands Hatch: Race Preview
May 18, 2012

DTM is coming to Brands Hatch this weekend!

The third race of the 2012 season is set to kick off with, “the biggest qualifying showdown in the history of the DTM,” according to Norbert Haug, Vice President of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport.

Staging DTM races since 2006, Brands Hatch is the shortest track on the race calendar at just 1.93km. It covers a gruelling 98 laps with very tight corners, and is regarded as one of the most unforgiving circuits among drivers.

Susie Wolff (Mercedes AMG C-Coupé) explained that, “Qualifying plays a crucial role as there isn’t a big difference in lap times over such a short distance, and it’s not easy to overtake here.”

Since Brands Hatch became a DTM venue Mercedes-Benz has won three of its six races and currently leads the driver, team and constructor standings this season.

This weekend will see drivers David Coulthard (Scotland), Jamie Green (England), Gary Paffett (England) and Susie Wolff (Scotland) aiming to excel in their home race.
