Schumacher supports decision to postpone Bahrain GP
February 23, 2011
Mercedes GP PETRONAS driver Michael Schumacher has backed the decision to postpone the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The majority of Formula One teams have, in fact, now indicated their support of the decision to call off the scheduled season-opener amid political unrest in the country.
And Schumacher remarked that the political turmoil is a more pressing issue for the people of Bahrain at the moment.
“Like so many of my Formula One colleagues, I also think the cancellation of the Bahrain event was a good decision,” he told his website.
“The people there right now have more important issues than Formula One, and those of course have priority.”
Meanwhile, Mercedes GP PETRONAS Team Principal Ross Brawn claimed recently that Schumacher has rediscovered his edge.
Speaking to the BBC, Brawn backed the seven-time world champion to re-establish himself as one of the leading lights in Formula One.
“It would be a tremendous boost for Formula One if he succeeds,” Brawn told the broadcaster.
