July 20, 2011
Mercedes-Benz DTM driver Bruno Spengler is revelling in the “great feeling” of winning the first DTM Show Event at the Olympic Stadium in Munich, Germany.
Spengler observed it was “tremendous fun driving on this circuit and soaking up the atmosphere”.
“The track is first rate and every race was incredibly close,” he remarked. “I was very pleased to see so many fans turn up in the stadium, and I hope they’ll be back to see us again soon for more DTM racing.”
The Canadian prevailed over Edoardo Mortara in a five-lap stint including pit stop, with the second stint being abandoned after Mortara crashed out.
As part of the support event’s programme, Mercedes GP PETRONAS driver Nico Rosberg performed demo laps in his Formula One Silver Arrow.
The event was hailed as a great success by drivers, the teams and fans of DTM racing. Indeed, 54,000 spectators came through the gates of the Munich Olympic Stadium over the racing weekend.
